A policeman was shot dead on Friday in front of his home in the north Sinai town of Al-Arish, Ahram Arabic website reported.
Unknown gunmen reportedly opened fire on 31-year-old policeman Ibrahim Ahmed Lasheen, hitting him with 17 bullets then managing to escape.
Violent attacks on security checkpoints and facilities have become frequent since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi on 3 July.
Daily attacks have since taken place by suspected militants, mostly in north Sinai but also in other parts of the country, killing more than 100 policemen.
