The Egyptian Cabinet decided to withdraw the fourth mobile operator license dossier from Atef Helmy, minister of communication, and will be under the supervision of the prime minister after complaints from Egyptian mobile operators including UAE’s Etisalat and Vodafone Group PLC and threatening to withdraw investment from Egypt if this license passes in the current form according to AlMasry Alyoum.
Sources added that Etisalat asked the prime minister to withdraw the fourth mobile license dossier from the minister of communication due what they claimed to be favoring Telecom Egypt (ETEL) at the expense of other mobile operators and ignoring the demands of the other companies.
