Egypt’s Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab said at a press conference on Wednesday that the cabinet is considering moving the headquarters of government ministries outside Cairo to be located on the Cairo-Suez road, Al-Ahram’s Arabic news website reported.
The decision should decrease traffic in the already congested city of Cairo.
Mahlab said today’s meeting tackled several planning projects including those related to Cairo’s underground, building tunnels in the canal city of Port Said as well as land reclamation projects across the country.
The new cabinet headed by Mahlab was formed by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi in June following his inauguration.
