A Russian-Egyptian business forum kicks off in the Egyptian capital city of Cairo on Monday. The two-day forum is tasked to demonstrate investment and export potential of the two countries and help expand business contacts between them, Russian News Agency TASS reported.
The Russian delegation to the forum entitled “Trade and Industrial Dialogue: Russia-Egypt” is led by Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, who will meet with his Egyptian counterpart Mounir Fakhry Abdel-Nour, Minister of Investment Ashraf Salman, Minister of International Cooperation Naglaa Al-Alwani, and with representatives of Egyptian business communities.
The sides will discuss cooperation in such areas as aircraft-building, ship-building, transport, agriculture, petrochemicals, nuclear energy, pharmaceuticals and establishment of joint high technology companies.
The forum will be attended by officials from a number of Russian regions, including the republics of Tatarstan, Bashkortostan and Chechnya, and by representatives of more than 100 industrial structures and companies, such as AvtoVAZ, Uralvagonzavod, Tyazhpromexport, Uralkhimmash, Tractor Plants Concern, Irkut Corportation, United Aircraft Corporation, etc.
In 2014, trade and economic relations between the two countries demonstrated growth, with foreign trade reaching three billion U.S. dollars. Egypt’s exports to Russia stood at 340 million U.S. dollars and imports from Russia reached 3.21 billion U.S. dollars. About three million Russian tourists visited Egypt in 2014.
