Egypt’s Minister of Transport Hesham Arafat announced Thursday that there is no plans to raise the prices of tickets for millions of commuters on Cairo’s loss-making metro as well as railway trains.
Arafar made his remarks after the government announced this morning new boost fuel and gasoline price increases.
“We focus on developing the first line of Cairo Metro, including renewing the infrastructure,” the Egyptian minister further said.
According the new fuel list, the price of 92-octane gasoline increased to five Egyptian pounds per litre from 3.5 pounds per litre, while diesel and 80-octane jumped to 3.65 pounds per litre from 2.35 pounds per litre.
