Samsung says invested $270 mln in Egypt TV production plant
South Korea’s Samsung Electronics Co Ltd said on Wednesday that it had spent around $270 million at its Egyptian plant.
Samsung has been assembling televisions in Egypt through its plant in Beni Suef since 2013.
The company exports Egypt-made electronics to 36 countries in the Middle East, Africa, and Europe including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Mali, Ivory Coast, and Russia, said Samsung Egypt’s head of the television sector Kassem Hassan.
“As a testament to the high-quality products rendered by the factory, 80-85 percent of its production is being exported to Middle Eastern and African countries,” Hassan said.
Beni Suef’s factory is one of Samsung’s 14 worldwide factories specialised in TV production, he added.
“… the factory invests heavily in the skill development of its employees and has trained over 180 workers and technicians up to date on the latest manufacturing technologies applied in the factory.” Hassan said.
The factory’s production capacity is six million units annually.
