Former Egyptian presidential hopeful Abdel-Moneim Aboul-Fotouh said today his campaign will support the Muslim Brotherhood’s Mohamed Mursi in the run-off election that begins later this week.
Aboul-Fotouh, who finished fourth in the earlier round with about 4 million votes, said in a statement on his campaign’s Facebook page that his decision was intended to “isolate” Ahmed Shafik, the last prime minister under former president Mursi took first place with about 5.8 million votes and will face Shafik in the two-day vote starting June 16.
