Egyptian Agricultural Export Council (AEC) targets boosting exports volume by 5-7 percent to hit 3.5 million tonnes i.e. US$2-2.2 billion at the end of 2016, chairman Ali Essa stated Wednesday.
Essa told Amwal Al Ghad that around 3.2 million tonnes of agricultural crops have been exported during 2015.
The chairman noted that AEC is focusing on opening and enhancing external markets notably in China, India, Bangladesh. Additionally, the council aims at boosting exports to the Russian market by 10-15 percent to replace the currently-banned Turkish products.
Moreover, Essa clarified that none of the export councils has got any funds from Export Development Fund since July 1, 2014.
