Egypt has to benefit from the current support its receives from the Trump administration, taking into consideration that harmonious connection between President Sisi and President Trump, said head of the Egyptian-US Business Council, on Thursday.

Omar Muhanna, who is also a member of the40th Door-Knocking delegation organised by American Chamber of Commerce in Cairo, to the United States, made these statements during the delegation’s final meetings.

Egypt can make use of this connection to build a strategic cooperation agreement with the US in the future, he added.

Muhannaemphasised that the current trends of US President Donald Trump are characterised by their great support for Egypt in light of a deep recognition of the pivotal and strategic role played by Egypt in the Middle East region and its war against terrorism.

He stressed the need to take advantage of these trends at the present time by intensifying the efforts at all levels, whether official and non-official, to lay the foundations for the development of economic relations between the two countries.

These efforts must lead to a transition from a state of economic partnership to a state ofan economic alliance, the matter which extends to different important fields, Muhanna noted.

He also stressed that the talks about reducing the US aid to Egypt will not affect the bilateral relations and that such measures, if they are made in accordance with US estimates and trends to make the same withdifferent foreign countries and not just Egypt.

He pointed out that he expected the economic relations between Egypt and the United States to enter a new phase in the coming period, which would maximise the gains of both the Egyptian and American sides.
