Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity has signed today a protocol on cooperation with Ashoka Arab World to support the associations working on homeless children initiatives.

Since its inception more than 30 years ago, Ashoka has provided stipends, professional support services and connections to a global network of nearly 3,000 leading social entrepreneurs – elected as Ashoka Fellows – in 70 countries.

From her part, Nevine El Qabbag, Assistant to Social Solidarity Minister, affirmed that the protocol will provide social workers with the necessary information and skills as well as help raise awareness about the homeless children phenomena in Egypt.

In a statement released Monday, the Egyptian ministry clarified that it is a three-year protocol to be implemented through a work plan that seeks training psychological and social specialists working in social care foundations in accordance with the standards enabling execution of targets.

Furthermore, the ministry’s strategy includes designing a mechanism to provide services for those children through funding NGO’s projects.

Moreover, a plan has been set for the necessary development supporting the ministry’s services strategy.
