AUC Business School educational partner of ICSB 2019
Sherif Kamel, Dean AUC Business School revealed that the school is the educational partner of ICSB World Congress 2019 at its current session taking place in Cairo between June 18-21.
He also noted that ‘We consider the School as an educational partner of the whole ecosystem. There is hardly a week where the school hasn’t held a business event on or off campus, that supports or advocates the entrepreneurship culture’
He said “This year’s ICSB congress theme is ‘the future of entrepreneurship’. This theme relates to investing in the most precious resource we have on this planet ‘human capital’, adding that “I consider human capital the oil to the 21st century. I would like to focus on my country as an emerging economy with huge opportunity as well as my continent, Africa, which I believe is the destination continent of the century”
He added that the spread of entrepreneurial culture comes at a time when new concepts such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and other concepts are developing , stressing that Africa, for example, will change completely during the coming period and with the development of such technologies.
As for Egypt, he explained that as an emerging market, the Egyptian government, the private sector and non-profit organizations require developing the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
He also reviewed the achievements the AUC Business School in the field of Entrepreneurship in Egypt, starting with curriculum development, holding meetings and launching a specialised incubation to help entrepreneurs, which resulted in sponsoring 150 companies, creating 1500 jobs and attracting investments exceeding $25 million.
AUC Venture Lab director also sheds light on achievements of AUC Business among them were a fund raised in favour of SWVL estimated by $US 8 million SeriesA which is which is considered the highest fund for startup in Egypt one of the largest in the Middle East. He added that SWVL has succeeded in attracting investments of $150 million.
Founded in 1955, the ICSB is a non-profit organisation devoted to continuing management education for entrepreneurs and small business. It was the first international membership organisation to promote the growth and development of small businesses worldwide. The organisation brings together educators, researchers, policy-makers and practitioners from around the world to share knowledge and expertise in their respective fields through publications, programs, workshops, training sessions and certifications.
