Australia’s retail sales remained unchanged in July on monthly basis, according to the latest data released by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) on Friday.
On an annual basis, retail sales rose 2.3 per cent compared to the same month last year.
Specific sectors demonstrated a downward trend, with spending on clothing and at department stores falling by 0.5 per cent and 0.4 per cent month-on-month, respectively.
Additionally, the hospitality sector, which includes cafes and restaurants, experienced a 0.2 per cent decrease. However, food retailing was the sole bright spot, recording a 0.2 per cent increase.
