Beko braces to export 60% from Egypt industrial complex
Turkish electronics giant Beko has established its first industrial complex in Egypt with a remarkable production capacity up to 1.5 million appliances annually, said investment executive director Cemil Inan on Wednesday.
This impressive output includes a diverse range of products, such as refrigerators, freezers, ovens, and dishwashers.
While the complex is well-equipped to meet the needs of the Egyptian market, Beko has ambitious plans for international expansion. Inan revealed that the company aims to export 60 per cent of its production from the new complex to the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. This strategic move is expected to generate an annual export value of $250 million.
Beko’s new complex leverages 50% local components
For his part, Ümit Günel – General Manager of Beko Egypt – emphasised that the new complex is poised to become a regional manufacturing powerhouse.
By sourcing 50 per cent of its components locally, Günel expects the complex to stimulate growth among domestic suppliers and enhance their competitiveness on the global stage. Moreover, the complex is projected to create approximately 2,000 jobs.
The industrial complex will not be limited to producing Beko-branded appliances, Günel noted. It will also manufacture devices for other renowned brands, including Whirlpool (recently acquired by Beko Global), Ariston, Indesit, and Hitachi.
