Egypt’s economic conference has officially begun with the playing of the Egyptian national anthem. Egyptian President Abdel Fattah has just inaugurated the Economic Development Conference (EEDC) in Sharm El-Sheikh, with the participation of more than 250 delegates around the globe, including kings, heads of state, global financiers, and representatives of local, Arab and foreign companies.
President al-Sisi begins his speech; he extends special thanks to Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Kuwait, three countries that supported Egypt with US$23 billion in aid since Islamist president Mohamed Morsi’s ouster in July 2013. He also gave special thanks to Jordan and Bahrain, and “other Arab states” for their support of Egypt.
