CBE: Banks’ Deposits Rise By EGP 2.9 Bln In January

The volume of banks’ deposit portfolio raised by EGP 2.9 billion in one month as it registered EGP 992.3 billion last January, compared with EGP 989.4 billion last December, Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) announced.

Governmental deposits rose by 0.6%, EGP 834 million, registering EGP 121.3 billion last January, compared with EGP 120.5 billion at the end of 2011; of which local currency deposits registered EGP 71.2 billion and foreign currency deposits registered EGP 50.1 billion in last January, according to CBE’s report.

Non-governmental deposits increased by EGP 2 billion, registering EGP 870.9 billion last January, compared with EGP 868.9 billion at the end of 2011; of which local currency deposits registered EGP 682.6 billion and foreign currency deposits registered EGP 188.3 billion in last January.
