The total needs of Egyptian cement factories of coal are expected to reach around 9.7 million tonnes annually by 2025, state’s Trade and Industry Minister Tarek Qabil stated Thursday.
He added that the ministry is set to cooperate with environment ministry to generalise the achieved benefits of using alternative fuel as an energy source in all cement factories in Egypt.
The minister clarified that this step would participate in saving US$50 million per year by 2025 besides lowering the emissions of CO2 resulted from cement factories.
Qabil added that the ministry plans to boost cement factories reliance on alternative fuel sources, i.e. coal, from 6.4 percent to 30 percent within 5-10 upcoming years.
