China says 1 million people visited Shanghai attractions over May Day holiday amid eased restrictions
Over one million people visited 130 main tourist attractions in Shanghai during Friday and Saturday, which mark the beginning of the May Day holiday, China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency reported.
The spike in the number of visitors comes after Shanghai’s Culture and Tourism Administration announced last week reopening of several major tourist sites in preparation for the May Day holiday, after being shut as part of restrictions to curb the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.
Shanghai received 456,000 visitors on Friday and 633,000 more on Saturday, according to Xinhua.
