China has issued renewed warnings to the European Union (EU) regarding the potential consequences of the bloc conducting separate negotiations with electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers while simultaneously engaging in talks with China.
The Chinese commerce ministry stated on Monday that such actions would “shake mutual trust” and disrupt the overall negotiation process.
This warning follows a similar statement earlier this month and comes just days after China and the EU agreed to continue technical discussions on alternatives to tariffs on Chinese electric vehicles (EVs).
Both parties clarified that price commitments would remain the key solution to the ongoing dispute, with the next phase of consultations already underway.
Beijing expressed its eagerness for EU representatives to visit China “as soon as possible” to facilitate these discussions.
