Denmark announced a 40 per cent increase in its pledge to the World Bank’s International Development Association (IDA), committing DKK 3,300 million ahead of December’s final IDA21 replenishment meeting.
This early contribution underscores Denmark’s dedication to eradicating poverty, promoting sustainable development, and supporting climate action. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen emphasised the importance of global cooperation, calling on other nations to enhance their financial contributions.
Ajay Banga, World Bank Group President, highlighted IDA’s unique capacity to multiply donor contributions fourfold. The replenishment will conclude in December in Seoul, Korea.
