Drilling operations at Egypt’s Zohr field to begin Jan 28th

The drilling rig for Egypt’s Zohr gas field is set to arrive on January 28 or 29 to resume operations, with expectations that the country will return to significant gas production and export levels within two years. This announcement came during a meeting between Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Italian energy company Eni, on Thursday, on the sidelines of the Davos Forum 2025 in Switzerland.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Madbouly also expressed interest in visiting Eni’s new exploration sites in Egypt in the near future. He highlighted the government’s close monitoring of efforts to increase production from various sites in line with set plans in collaboration with international partners.
