A 5.5-magnitude earthquake shook Iran- Iraq border at 02:09:35 P.M. local time (1039 GMT) on Thursday, the Iranian Seismological Center (IRSC) announced.
The epicenter was at the depth of 10.00 km, 32.74 degrees north latitude and 47.61 degrees east longitude, said the report, adding the epicenter of the tremor was located in the Murmuri region in Iran’s Ilam province bordering Iraq.
The people of Dehloran city, close to the quake area, rushed out of their houses to the streets in panic and a cloud of dust has covered the air of the city, local Mehr news agency reported.
No immediate report has been released about the possible damage or casualties so far, according to Xinhua.
