EGSA, Tanmia Petroleum sign MoU to enhance monitoring in petroleum sector
The Egyptian Space Agency (EGSA) and Tanmia Petroleum Company signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday to develop monitoring and early warning systems for petroleum and mineral resources facilities using space applications. The agreement aims to enhance safety, security, and operational efficiency in the petroleum sector.
The partnership will focus on utilising remote sensing technologies to detect potential leakages in production lines, developing smart systems for early theft detection, and monitoring mines under the Mineral Resources Authority to identify leakages or illegal activities.
According to the cabinet statement, the collaboration marks a step forward in applying space technology to support economic development, enabling enhanced monitoring of critical infrastructure while ensuring high safety and sustainability standards.
The initiative aligns with Egypt’s digital transformation strategy and efforts to integrate space and energy technologies, reinforcing the country’s position as a regional hub for advanced technology.
