Egypt, Abu Dhabi sign MoU to boost waste management
Egypt’s Waste Management Regulatory Authority signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company (Tadweer Group) to explore potential areas of co-operation and investment in Egypt’s waste management and recycling sectors.
The agreement, witnessed by the Egyptian Minister of Environment, Yasmine Fouad, seeks to identify key investment opportunities, facilitate public-private partnerships, and promote knowledge exchange in the field of waste management and recycling.
Proposed projects include a €70 million facility to recycle palm frond waste into MDF wood in New Valley Governorate, a €530 million project to produce sustainable aviation fuel from recycled cooking oil in collaboration with the Egyptian Petrochemicals Company, and a €14 million project to convert rubber waste into fine powder for various applications.”
