Egypt is intensifying its efforts to expand food exports, particularly to Europe, said Mahmoud Bazan, Chairman of the Food Export Council (FEC), on Wednesday. The FEC is collaborating with government agencies to open new markets, prioritising animal-origin products like dairy, cheese, pasteurized eggs, processed poultry and meat, and honey for European consumers.
Bazan highlighted the recent resumption of Egyptian fish exports to Europe after a three-year suspension, a success achieved through the joint efforts of the FEC, the National Food Safety Authority, and the Chamber of Food Industries. European authorities approved the resumption after confirming Egypt’s adherence to all relevant standards and regulations.
The FEC chairman emphasised the competitive edge of these products in the global market and the potential for increased exports to contribute significantly to Egypt’s national export target of $145 billion. He also affirmed the FEC’s commitment to supporting Egyptian exporters by removing obstacles and enhancing their competitiveness.
