Egypt granted 219.6 million Egyptian pounds to The National Veal Project, said Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation on Sunday.
The project is part of the Hayah Karima presidential initiative to improve living conditions in rural Egypt.
Around 305 small-scale breeders and young graduates will benefit from the fund and will receive 4,880 livestock to raise.
The announcement was made after a meeting between Moustafa El-Sayyad, Deputy Minister of Agriculture for Livestock, Fish and Poultry, and the project’s board of directors chaired by Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Elsayed Elkosayer.
The minister said that the project has a goal of increasing production and availability of red meat and dairy products in the market.
It will also help balance prices for both producers and consumers.
Tarek Soliman, Head of the Livestock and Poultry Development Sector at the Agriculture Ministry, said that farmers can join the project by applying through the nearest agricultural administration.
They can also apply to the Agricultural Bank of Egypt, the National Bank of Egypt (NBE), or online through the Livestock and Poultry Development Department.
