Egypt appreciates METAC’s role in economic development

Egypt’s Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk emphasised the need for international expertise to support the country’s strategic plan for building trust and partnership with the tax community, and boosting private sector growth.

He commended the IMF’s Middle East Regional Technical Assistance Centre (METAC) for its efforts in providing economic and financial services to the region, enhancing capacities, and promoting human development.

Addressing an event marking METAC’s 20th-anniversary, Kouchouck highlighted METAC’s significant role in promoting economic stability, inclusive growth, and sustainability in the Middle East and North Africa.

The minister highlighted Egypt’s progress in implementing fiscal policies with METAC’s support, leading to improved fiscal discipline and public finance management as part of economic reform efforts.

Meanwhile, Holger Floerkemeier, Director of METAC, praised Egypt’s support and contributions to regional economic development. He emphasised the mutual benefits of the partnership and expressed optimism for future collaboration.
