Egypt, Baker Hughes review progress on gas storage, technology cooperation

Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum Karim Badawy met with Baker Hughes CEO Lorenzo Simonelli on Monday on the sidelines of the ADIPEC 2025 Conference in Abu Dhabi to discuss strengthening cooperation in energy transition and advanced petroleum technologies.

Talks built on discussions held earlier this year at the Energy Conference in London, focusing on ways to expand collaboration in exploration, production, and low-carbon solutions.

Badawy and Simonelli reviewed Egypt’s efforts to deploy modern technology to boost recovery rates from mature oil and gas fields, with Baker Hughes offering technical expertise and innovative solutions to support those goals.

The meeting also discussed progress in joint studies between Baker Hughes and the Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company (EGAS) on natural gas storage, aimed at improving energy security and system flexibility.
