Egypt c. bank: Financial inclusion reaches 71.5% in June ’24
The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) reported a rise in financial inclusion, with 71.5 per cent of citizens aged 16 and above owning transaction accounts by June 2024, up from 70.7 per cent in December 2023. This increase brings the total number of citizens who have bank accounts to 48.1 million citizens out of 67.3 million eligible persons.
Notably, the period from 2016 to June 2024 saw a 181 per cent increase in financial inclusion, aligning with Egypt’s Vision 2030 and highlighting the importance of CBE’s initiatives in driving sustainable development and economic empowerment.
