The Egyptian Cabinet approved on Wednesday a draft presidential decree for a grant worth 500 million yen from Japan to support a new economic and social development programme, highlighting the growing relationship between the two countries.
The grant will fund a programme focused on digital transformation within the agricultural sector. Specifically, it will establish a system for leasing and monitoring agricultural machinery using GPS remote control technology.
This initiative aligns with Egypt’s broader national strategy to implement digital transformation and expand e-government services, according to a statement published by the Cabinet on Wednesday.
The grant aims to enhance the living conditions of farmers, particularly those with limited income, by promoting the adoption of affordable agricultural mechanisation technology to boost productivity and expand cultivated land. The programme will focus on Dakahlia, Gharbia, and Beheira governorates.
