Egypt confirms record jump of 1,289 coronavirus cases on Friday

Egypt reported on Friday its biggest daily jump in the number of new coronavirus cases of 1,289, taking the toll to 22,082, according to a health ministry statement. The number of deaths also jumped to 34.

The ministry added that 152 patients had fully recovered and been discharged from isolation hospitals and quarantine facilities. The total number of recoveries from the virus now stands at 5,511.

The number of patients who have re-tested negative for the virus, including complete recoveries, has now reached 6,237, the ministry’s spokesman Khaled Megahed announced.
