Egypt expands applied technology education with 7 schools – Cabinet

The Egyptian Cabinet on Thursday approved a plan to develop seven new technical schools into specialised applied technology institutions focusing on information and communications technology (ICT).

Telecom Egypt has been assigned to oversee the rehabilitation, operation, and management of these schools for six years, from the 2024/2025 fiscal year to 2029/2030, as part of the project’s third phase.

The agreement, approved by the Cabinet following a request from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, will see Telecom Egypt play a key role in modernising technical education.

The company will also provide each school with free fibre optic internet connectivity throughout the six-year contract. This contribution covers both infrastructure and service provision, according to a Cabinet statement.

Telecom Egypt is responsible for managing school operations, selecting an academic partner with the Ministry of Education, supervising the partner, and providing staff as needed during the contract, the statement mentioned

The project supports the government’s goal of creating applied technology schools in every governorate, focusing on regions without existing institutions to improve technical education and equip students with modern workforce skills.
