Egypt Seen Higher Marble Production of 6mn Tonnes in 5 Years

Egypt’s marble production is expected to reach 6 million tonnes in the coming five years, said minister of trade and industry.

According to Minister Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, Egypt is the sixth biggest marble importer in the world and has the fifth largest industrial zone in marble field. Egypt’s marble production is ranging between 4.55 4.5-5 million tonnes.

During his meeting with a delegation of Veronafiere (Verona Exhibition Authority), headed by Giovanni Mantovani, Abdel-Nour referred to a comprehensive plan being executed to expand contributions of Egyptian companies to various exhibitions, local and international markets, aiming to increase the presence of made-in-Egypt products in several foreign markets.

“It is an important step for Egypt to host Verona’s Exhibition to expand bilateral cooperation between Egypt Expo and Convention Authority (EECA) and its European counterpart” the Egyptian minister added.

Furthermore,  Abdel Nour affirmed that the exhibition had achieved several positive results; most importantly the participation of more than 120 companies working in marble sector to get to know the most up-to-date technology used in such vital industry. He pointed out that Italy has great experience in the marble field.

During meeting with the Italian delegation, Abdel Nour has discussed means of bilateral cooperation in providing necessary vocational and technical training for companies that work in marble field, notably in designing the stone. The two parties also tackled the establishment of a specialized academy, designated to offer such technical and vocational training.
