Egypt eyes renewable energy expansion with DEME at Davos

Egypt’s Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly met with Luc Vandenbulcke, CEO of Belgium’s DEME Group, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum 2025 in Davos to discuss the company’s renewable energy projects in Egypt, as per a Cabinet statement on Tuesday.

Madbouly underscored the government’s commitment to advancing the energy sector by offering incentives to attract investments.

He highlighted the strategic importance of DEME’s initiatives in the Suez Canal Economic Zone and the Gargoub area on Egypt’s northwest coast, which align with the country’s renewable energy goals.

Vandenbulcke detailed DEME’s ongoing projects in wind, solar, and green hydrogen energy within Egypt, outlining plans for expansion. He also emphasised the European Union’s backing for green hydrogen projects, reflecting growing international demand for renewable energy solutions.

Both parties agreed to maintain close collaboration to ensure the successful implementation of DEME’s projects in Egypt.
