Egypt industry: New council to drive microchip, solar manufacturing
The Egyptian Cabinet approved on Wednesday the formation of a national council to oversee the localisation of microchip and solar cell manufacturing technology. The Council will be chaired by the prime minister, comprising key government officials, including ministers of industry, planning, communications, higher education, electricity, finance, investment, and petroleum.
The council’s responsibilities include developing and implementing a comprehensive strategy for the industry, addressing challenges faced by investors, and coordinating efforts across government agencies. It will also review and propose changes to relevant laws and regulations.
A technical secretariat will support the council’s work, conducting research, preparing reports, and engaging with the business community.
This strategic move aims to bolster Egypt’s technological capabilities and contribute to its economic growth.
