Egypt halts summer power cuts

Egypt will halt its scheduled summer power cuts under the energy consumption rationing plan starting Sunday, July 21st, lasting until mid-September, Prime Minister, Dr Moustafa Madbouly, told a press conference.

The PM emphasised the government’s efforts to import large fuel shipments to mitigate the energy crisis. While load-shedding will be suspended, there may still be isolated power outages due to technical issues, which the government will address promptly.

For summer 2025, the government plans to bridge the energy gap by adding 3 to 4 gigawatts through renewable energy projects, aiming to reduce dependency on imported fuels.
