Egypt’s food and agriculture exports hit $4.7b billion in 2015

Egypt’s agricultural and food exports have totalled around US$4.7 billion in 2015, said head of the country’s agricultural export council (AEC) on Thursday.

On the sidelines of a conference organised by the council on Thursday, Ali Essa further told Amwal Al Ghad that agricultural sector captures around 12 percent of Egypt’s total exports in 2015.

Egypt has become the world’s biggest exporter of orange according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture report, the Egyptian official added. Its exports of orange exceeded one million tonnes.
