Egypt held a ministerial meeting on Wednesday in cooperation with several regional and international partners to support Sudan in its humanitarian crisis.
The meeting was held in cooperation with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the African Union (AU), the European Union (EU), and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. It took place on the sidelines of the 78th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York.
Also cooperating in the meeting is the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees. The meeting seeked to mobilise international efforts to address funding gaps. It also aimed to ensure the fulfilment of financial pledges to deal with the crisis in Sudan.
Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry expressed the country’s solidarity with the Sudanese people. He also highlighted Egypt’s efforts to help them overcome the current ordeal.
Sudan has been suffering from a crisis due to war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
