Egypt has become one of the world’s top 10 fertilizers exporters as the Egyptian government pays big attention to developing the fertilizer industry and production, Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamae said
The minister made these remarks during inaugurated the 27th international annual forum of the Arab Fertilizer Association (AFA) via video conference.
The minister confirmed the importance of enhancing joint regional and international cooperation between Egyptian companies and institutions operating in the fertiliser industry sector. This is a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development goals at the Arab and African levels.
The minister said that the fertiliser industry is one of the most important strategic industrial sectors that contribute mainly to achieving food security and sustainable agricultural development. It also contributes to saving about 50 percent of global food production.
Many Egyptian companies have adopted an industrial strategy meant to upgrade production and enhance the quality of produced fertilizers, Gamae added.
She stressed the need for national firms to boost regional and international cooperation in order to achieve the sustainable development goals, both at the Arab and African levels.
