Egypt launches 1st eco-friendly industrial complex in New Alamein
Egypt’s Minister of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities, Sherif Sherbiny, laid the foundation stone for the Green Industrial Complex in the industrial zone of New Alamein City.
This complex, which is Egypt’s first eco-friendly industrial park, has a total investment cost of EGP 12 billion and spans 400,000 square metres. The project is being developed by Integrated Environmental Technology Company, IETOS.
The first phase of the complex will include three main factories, along with supporting factories, and is expected to create 2,000 direct job opportunities.
Production is anticipated to begin in the second quarter of next year, with local content ranging from 60 to 70 per cent. Sherbiny noted that IETOS is among the pioneering companies in local manufacturing of water, sewage, and industrial equipment to reduce import costs.
IETOS’s factories in Khanka and 10th of Ramadan City are in partnership with international firms, which have supported them with certification from all relevant government agencies.
