Egypt’s Minister of Health and Population Khaled Abdel Ghaffar has launched the first laboratory for pathological and genetic analysis at the Egyptian Centre for Disease Control (CDC).
The project which estimated 120 million, will have the capacity to conduct about 1800 genetic analyses annually as well as examine around 400,000 cancer pathology samples, that would assist doctors in determining the most appropriate treatments.
The project is expected to reach completion by the beginning of 2024, as it is a collaboration between the ministry, Roche, a leading pharmaceutical firm, and HDV Egypt, a firm specialising in diagnostics.
