Egypt may see final fuel price hike in October – PM

Egypt’s next fuel price increase, expected in October, could be the last major adjustment under the government’s reform plan if global price trends remain steady, Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly said late on Tuesday.

Speaking at a roundtable with newspaper and online editors, Madbouly said the government had pledged not to raise prices for six months and stressed that subsidies on diesel would remain in place even after the upcoming hike.

He said the roadmap for energy reform was clear and aimed at balancing fiscal sustainability with continued support for key sectors.
