Egypt’s PM appoints Hamdi Badawi as FRA assistant chairman
Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly on Tuesday issued Decision No. 443 of 2026 appointing Hamdi Mahmoud Badawi as Assistant to the Chairman of Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA).
Badawi has more than 26 years of experience in criminal investigations and combating financial crimes. He previously held senior roles in tackling economic and capital market crimes, including money laundering and terrorist financing.
After joining the FRA, he supervised the Central Department for Combating Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing and later oversaw supervision of professionals in the insurance sector. He also served as Deputy Assistant to the FRA Chairman, contributing to strengthening supervisory, compliance and governance frameworks.
Badawi also delivered specialised training programmes for non-banking financial sector employees on combating money laundering and terrorist financing through the FRA’s Financial Services Institute.
