Egypt Prosecution Detains 15 Alleged ‘Black Bloc’ Members

Head of the Heliopolis Prosecution Judge Ibrahim Saleh has ordered on Saturday  a 15-day detention for 17 alleged Black Bloc members pending investigations.

The accused were arrested late Friday evening during an attack on the presidential palace after dozens of unknown assailants threw rocks and Molotov cocktails at one of the entrances to the palace and its security guards.

The security forces pushed back the protesters, dispersing them with teargas grenades.

A group of masked assailants were also seen torching a police vehicle near the presidential palace.

The 17 are accused of attempting to storm in the presidential palace and throwing Molotov cocktails and the headquarters, injuring 17 including police and citizens, destruction of public and private properties and the possession of knives.
