The Egyptian Tax Authority issued a decision requiring top corporate taxpayers to issue electronic tax invoices as of 15 November.
This is the first phase of making the issuance of electronic tax invoices mandatory for all taxpayers in line with the ministerial decree no. 188 of 2020, the authority’s head Reda Abdel Kader said in a statement on Sunday.
Taxpayers are required to issue electronic invoices that contain the issuer’s electronic signature and a unified code for each supplied good or service.
The step is part of Egypt’s efforts towards digital transformation, integration of the informal market, and combat of tax evasion.
