Egypt sets goal to rank among world’s 50 leading traders – Investment Min.

Egypt aims to rank among the world’s top 50 trading nations as it works to deepen investor confidence, expand export markets, and strengthen private sector partnerships, Investment and Foreign Trade Minister Hassan El-Khatib said on Monday.

Speaking at a conference organised by the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EECE) in cooperation with the finance ministry, El-Khatib said the government is “aware of the challenges investors face and is working to resolve them through ongoing communication.”

He said Egypt is pursuing a balanced approach to trade relations, with a clear plan to boost commerce with African countries while expanding into key markets such as Europe.

El-Khatib added that closer coordination with the finance ministry has helped cut customs clearance times and lower costs for exporters. The government’s new export rebate programme, he said, reflects its continued support for the private sector and competitiveness.

On industrial investment, the minister noted that several major automotive companies entering Egypt are targeting exports, with government backing to localise production and position the country as a regional manufacturing hub.
