Egypt, South Korea sign drug safety MoU to boost pharma cooperation

Egypt’s Drug Authority (EDA) signed on Sunday a memorandum of understanding with South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on Sunday during the AIRIS 2025 Summit in Seoul, the authority said.

The deal is aimed at expanding the EDA’s international regulatory ties and drawing on global expertise as Egypt seeks to secure the World Health Organisation’s highest regulatory benchmark, maturity level four. Achieving that status would strengthen Egypt’s pharmaceutical market, attract fresh local and foreign investment, and support exports of Egyptian medical products.

The EDA said its participation in the summit underlined its growing role as a regulator with international standing. It added that wider cooperation with global partners will help advance pharmaceutical innovation, improve patient safety and bolster the industry’s role across regional and international markets.
