Egypt studies possibility of locally manufacturing Sputnik V vaccine
The Egyptian Minister of Health and Population, Hala Zayed, met with the Russian Ambassador to Egypt, Georgi Borisenko, to explore means of cooperation to provide Russia’s Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus (COVID-19).
The two sides discussed the possibility to manufacture the Russian vaccine in Egypt in order to meet the local demand and export the vaccine to African countries, the Spokesman of the Ministry of Health, Khaled Megahed, said in a statement on Monday.
The vaccine, which has been approved for use by the Egyptian Drug Authority, is administered at two doses with an interval of 21 days.
