Egypt to launch $170 million dry port tender in May
Egypt plans to launch a new international bid round to build a dry port in 10th of Ramadan city, east of Cairo next May, a government official said Wednesday.
The project, which will be a public-private partnership between the General Authority for Ports and Dry Land and the winning consortium, involves total investments worth $170 million, Atter Hannoura, Head of PPP central unit at Finance Ministry, told Amwal Al Ghad.
Earlier this year, a consortium of three companies had been awarded a contract for a $176 million project to build Egypt’s first dry port. The companies were Egypt’s El Sewedy Electric and 3a International and Germany’s DB Schenker Egypt.
The port will be built over100 feddans (420,000 square metres) west of Cairo.
