Represented by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), Egypt is going to take part in the workshop on Open Educational Resources (OER) in Arab countries.
Organized by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the event will be held on November 21-22, in Amman, Jordan.
The workshop discusses mainly the opportunities provided by ICTs in education and the challenges and obstacles faced by the educational process organizers via ICTs, especially OER, which became part of the teaching and learning process.
MCIT is cooperating with UNESCO in the use of information technology in raising teachers’ competencies using OER.
MCIT has, previously, hosted the National Consultative Workshop on ICT Competency Framework for Teachers (ICT-CFT), on 15-16 May 2016. It also participated in the ICT Competency Framework for Teachers (ICT CFT) project Inception meeting—organized by UNESCO and ALECSO—in Tunisia on 17-18 August 2015.
UNESCO is initiating a year-long project on ICT competency Framework for teachers in the Arab States through harnessing OER to integrate ICT into their practice, thereby achieving professional development to advance student learning.
The project aims to build competencies among teachers of seven countries (Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Mauritania, Jordan, Sudan and Tunisia) for the effective integration of ICT in the classroom, through UNESCO ICT Competency Framework for Teachers and harnessing Open educational resources.
