Egypt to receive first shipment of Pfizer, J&J vaccine doses soon – minister
Egypt is set to receive its first shipment of the U.S. Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccines in the coming days, Minister of Health Hala Zayed said on Friday.
Zayed added that the country also expects a new shipment of UK’s AstraZeneca-Oxford University vaccine in the coming days.
The country will get some 2 million doses of Pfizer / BioNTech mRNA vaccine, the minister said without disclosing any further details whether they are paid for them or not, or about the amount of Johnson & Johnson or AstraZeneca doses.
In June, Zayed said Egypt would receive in July the final 1.9 million doses of AstraZeneca allocated under the Gavi/Covax programme.
The country is also set to receive in the coming days raw materials to manufacture another 5 million doses of China’s Sinovac, Zayed added.
